New emission regulations to take affect soon....
Soon our industry will be faced with more stringent environmental regulations that will mandate a series of new standards and regulations.
40 CFR 1060... Evaporative Emissions
On July 31, 2011 an important deadline will close with regard to a 1 time exemption (40 CFR 1045.625), we urge you to submit your letter prior to July 31st designating compliance that best suits your company. If you do not file for this exemption you MUST comply! Also note that the new regulations will immediately become effective. Remember that you'll have labeling and paperwork as required regardless of your designated exemption status for daily diurnal emissions compliance. (Are your new compliance labels ready?)
If you elect "the small volume allowance option" ( 40 CFR 1045.625 (d)(2) ), this will allow you to produce up to 1200 vessels through July 31, 2013. At that time the exemption status will cease (for all) and full compliance will be in effect. Since model change is in full swing time is of the essence.
We have already seen new standards with regard to fuel hose and the impact that has had, so moving forward with fuel tanks will also have quite an impact on the boats that we produce. Even greater...
