etrailer | CE Smith Multi Sport Boat and Kayak Trailer w/ Bunks Feature Review

Adam here with etrailer. Today is a fun day. We're gonna be taking a look at the C.E. Smith Multi-Sport Trailer. So this is gonna be made of galvanized steel, so it's gonna be great for your fresh water but also your salt water applications for you coastal people out there, and this is gonna be a great way to make it a little easier to load up your boats, so if you do have kayaks or canoes, and you either are using your roof for something else, or you just don't want to hassle with the roof rack and just having to put it all the way up there, this is gonna be a lot easier to get those boats on there, but also for the boats that aren't gonna go up on your roof, whether it's a paddle boat or a Jon boat or a big raft boat, we can configure these bunks in different situations to fit whatever boat we are hauling. So right now, we just have them straight across. They're about five foot in length, so I can fit two kayaks and bring them to wherever I want to go on the water. The trailer's gonna be about 11 foot eight inches from the coupler all the way to the end, and it's gonna have a capacity of 800 pounds. It's gonna be able to utilize some of those longer Jon boats that you have up to 12 foot in length, and that's always good. So we can do a lot of different adjustments and stuff to really fit whatever kind of boat you want. So if it's within those bounds, you can put a boat on it. What really differentiates this trailer from the Malone Mega Sport is we have a winch in the front, and the Malone does not. So with this, all we got to do is just hook it up to whatever boat that we have. It's not gonna be for kayaks or canoes. We'll hook it up. We have a big lever right here, so crank it on down, and then you just go like this to let it go the other way. So I kinda like that. It has a little rubber stop. But we can actually adjust this, which is really cool. One, we can adjust it along the tongue, so let's go ahead and see how much adjustments we're gonna have. So basically from the coupler to the start of this bracket, it's gonna be about 50 inches. You're gonna have 50 inches to move along our whole entire tongue. So you can position this, but also where the winches too. If you notice on the front of this bracket, there's gonna be a bunch of different holes. We have it in the second highest point, but you can, depending on what kind of boat you have, we can adjust this, so it fits perfectly. A lot of adjustments, so you really don't have to worry about your boat not really working with it. All you have to do is just make sure that it is not gonna be too heavy for this thing. That's basically it. And the winch is gonna have a capacity of 850 pounds, but if you're using the winch, we're gonna need to strap it down. It does not come with straps, so I'm just using the E Trailer kayak straps. I just like them. They work really well, and they have little protectors for the bottom of our boat. And what I'm using is just the bunk brackets to kind of wrap it around and get it nice and tight. As you can see, this thing isn't really gonna go anywhere. So I am very, very confident. More straps the better in my opinion, so I usually load it up with straps. So make sure you grab some whenever you grab the trailer. And I'm gonna take the boats off, but just look how much easier it is then having to do it on the roof. I usually carry my kayaks on the roof, but with this, it's a lot easier. Definitely a lot easier. 'Cause you don't really have to lift it up hardly. After I'm done yakking for the whole entire day, my arms are dead, and this way, we don't really have to do a whole lot to get everything off. So it's a lot quicker, a lot easier, and especially when your using your arms to put this thing up there and take it down. When you're using your arms, when you use the kayaks, it's just so much better. It just makes the whole experience a lot easier, so you can even have your kiddos put it up on here. It's easy and simple. So I'm gonna take the rest of the stuff off so we can get a little closer look at the trailer. With the brackets that are installed on our bunks right here, we're gonna get two different sets, So eight total, and we're gonna pick between the two. So we either have the short ones or the taller ones. So in the highest configuration with the tall brackets, from the frame to the very, very top is gonna be about nine inches. If you just take a 16 millimeter socket, we can rotate these around, just loosen them up a little bit, and thi

etrailer | Review of the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons with LED Lights for Boat Trailers
Click for more info and reviews of this CE Smith Boat Trailer Parts: https://www.etrailer.com/Boat-Trailer-Parts/CE-Smith/CE27760.html Check out some similar Boat Trailer Parts options: https://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Boat_Trailer_Parts-sf-Guides.aspx https://www.etrailer.com Don’t forget to subscribe! https://www.youtube.com/user/etrailertv Full transcript: https://www.etrailer.com/tv-review-ce-smith-post-style-guide-ons-ce27760.aspx Today we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons with LED Lights for Boat Trailers. These are the 60" tall version. Part number is CE27760. Now let's test them out. We'll just supply power to our trailer through our running light circuit and see if they work. Perfect. We've got the nice amber lights facing forward then we'll have the red lights on the rear. Our heavy-duty post guides do a real good job of helping us get our boats on and off of our trailer. Also what they're going to do is give us a higher visual area so when we're looking in our mirrors as we're trying to back up and things like that, we're going to be able to see exactly where that trailer's at. We all know a lot of times when the boat is not loaded on the trailer, it can be hard to see. These are going to offer a good visual cue that can be positioned pretty close to the very back corner of the trailer. These are going to work with frame widths up to 3" and frame heights up to 4 1/4". It doesn't matter if it's an I-beam style, C-channel or a box channel as we've got here. It's going to work on there as long as it fits on those dimensions. We can mount it below the frame or above the frame just so you can really customize it. Another great thing, we all know that boats aren't always created equal. Sometimes we've got more overhang on a boat coming off the side of the trailer than others, so these allow for up to 19" of adjustment in and out so it can really help you to customize and really fine-tune the fit for your boat. You can get it right up on the edge, really give us a good aid as we're trying to get on. Now, as we do that, of course, our side of the boat, it's going to slide down the non-marring PVC sides here. It's going to give us a good, smooth area to kind of slide along to get right up on our trailer even in some stronger current. The braces themselves, or the arms themselves, their galvanized steel so we're not going to have to worry about corrosion and things like that for years to come. The package is going to include two of our main arms, two of our posts, and mounting hardware to take care of both sides. Another thing is going to be our dual colored LED lights. We've got the amber on the front side, we've got out red here on the backside, and in those situations where it's nighttime out there, we've been doing a little catfishing at night, something like that, these are going to help us and guide us so we can see the trailer, to get our boat up on the trailer, see the trailer when we're backing it up, and things of that nature. They'll also act as a good mark as we're heading down the road. Now, installation's a really fairly simple process. What we're going to do is take two of our U-bolts. We want 1 that's formed and 1 that's flat, 4 nylon locking nuts, 4 washers, and 1 of our brackets to start. We'll start with one of our formed brackets. We're going to place that right over top of the frame where we're going to be mounting it. This is going to fit through the inside hole in the front and the hole that's second to the outside here on the back just like that. Put that down, place those on, and then we'll just take one of the washers and one of the lock nuts and just get that started. That will kind of hold it in place while we bring in our formed U-bolt. That's going to rest, that notch will rest right over our other U-bolt, and it will just go in the opposite hole location as what the front one did, or what the straight one did. Then we'll put on the same thing. Washer and the nylon lock nut. We'll just leave those loosely installed for now. Now we'll take the short side of one of our arms. We're going to slide it right into the bracket. Then we'll just tighten down our bolts a little bit here to hold it in place. We'll adjust those so we have about an inch of clearance between our boat and the guide on, and while we're not going to torque these all the way down, we do want to make sure our guide is not going to move too much on us. We'll put a little bit of pressure on there to make sure everything is held in place. That should keep it in place for now while we take care of our wiring. We're going to take one of our lights, and we'll guide our wire down through the PVC pipe. Then we can just loosely fit our light on top. We want to hold the wire to the outside. Then we'll guide our post right down on. On the backside there's going to be, you can see a notch in the PVC pipe which is going to slide right down on the
